Second Prototypes for The City of Zombies are Ready!

Hi! We have some great updates for everyone interested in zombie themed games, our new prototypes for The City of Zombies are ready and we have begun playtesting them to check mechanics and components fitness to them. So far, we have gathered some nice feedbacks and we have already refined the gameplay in a couple of areas. The feedback from the target players, i.e. kids from 8 years of age, is very encouraging, they seem to love it and we are very happy about it. Here is the box! The framing still need some improvements but we like its coherence with the overall aesthetics of the game and the overall impression. The game includes five city boards and four starting boards, players and zombies meeples, two dice, several tokens for items and weapons and a deck of cards divided in: boss, heroes, missions and exploration. In The City of Zombies the young players will venture to discover the city board after board. Each player impersonates a specific hero: warrior, medic, ninja, huntress. Each hero has specific abilities that can go from the opportunity to blend with the surroundings and avoid being hit by a zombie, to carryign multiple weapons, climbing up on walls or heal a player even without a medikit. The game is a fully-cooperative game, where all the players work together to defeat the zombie menace. The City Boards can be positioned in any way as long as they are connected to one another by at least one side and that each Home Board is connected to a different City Board. At the beginning of each game players are in the center of their Home Boards and the City Boards are covered. As they move, the City Boards receive exploration cards that can either represent a zombie of some kind or different items. When the player enters in a City Board receives a specific mission that, if accomplished, grants a powerful reward that can be used to gain an advantage against the zombies. The basic round includes a simple series of actions: movement, card assignment, attack. Once all the players have completed their turn, it’s time for the zombies to move on the boards. Depending on the roll of a die they move all in the direction represented by the number on the edge of the board. Their erratic movements need to be taken into account by players as they try to reach weapons to equip to defeat the zombies. Around the city dwell Dumb Zombies and Dangerous Zombies, each one has a different distance from which they can attack players, and each one requires a specific kind of weapon to be defeated. Players weapons’ can attack zombies while keeping out of range by one cell, but movements need to be planned to avoid being hit by the zombies when it’s their time to move. Once all the zombies have appeared on the board, it’s time for the Zombie Boss to enter the game. The Zombie Boss must be hit at least once by all players to be defeated, and to do so it often requires teamwork. The game ends when all the zombies have been defeated. There are also a few variations in the gameplay that can be adopted at players’ choice and offer even greater replayability.
