Project “Cocktail Bars” is a game about, you guessed it, bars that serve cocktails. Become the owner and manager of one of the 6 different bars and try to ample their menus of cocktails by gathering and exchanging ingredients with other players. Earn money for each cocktail available in your bar, with specific mechanics that can help you make a fortune or ruin your bar.
We love cocktails and spirits, during the years we have collected over a hundred bottles of different spirits and liquors and we love to mix them to create well known cocktails or make something completely new. Cocktails are fun, social, and colorful, which is true also for boardgames! So why not creating a game about cocktails?
Project “Cocktail Bars” is not just a heavily themed game about mixology. Our goal with it is to allow players to familiarize with recipes and ingredients while playing the game so to learn more about cocktails and get ready to prepare them at home.
The idea for this game was born in September 2024 as Fabio and Serena (the game designers) were walking in the woods nearby the Southern Florence countryside, a place known for great wines but also for very nice juniper trees, the key ingredient for one of the spirits you will find in Cocktail Bars, Gin.

Project “Cocktail Bars” is a game for anyone who loves cocktails, it features fun dynamics and game mechanics and mix them with real cocktails recipes to increase players’ knowledge about mixology and cocktails as they play.
Setup the game by giving to each player a set of ingredients cards, their initial coin balance and one of the unique bar boards.
At each round players take turns to perform a set of actions like: purchasing ingredients, creating cocktails (sometimes with too much freedom 😉 ), exchange ingredients with other players, upgrade their bar and more.
When all the players have gone through their round, through some special cards, and a dice roll, players face specific game mechanics that can enhance or limit the coins gained at the end of the round.
Some of these mechanics involve customer reviews, prohibitionism, bad batches of ingredients, cocktail connoisseur visits and much more.
As the game progresses, more ingredients are purchased from the players and cocktails are created. When all the ingredients cards have been purchased the game ends and the bar with the highest amount of coins wins the game.
This game is on an early stage of development. We have defined the main mechanics for the game along with the list of cocktails and the required ingredients. The next step is balancing the game, our goal is to allow players to win the game using different strategies depending on the game state at each turn. We want to create a game that’s simple to grasp, but ticky to master.
